21 and 22 February 2002 - Beijing Seminar on the Environment

On 21 and 22 February 2002 the "Beijing Energy and Environment International Symposium 2002" was held in the Beijing International Hotel.
The seminar's intent was to explain to Chinese experts the experience of foreign experts in improving the environment and air quality, an important issue for Beijing in view of the 2008 Olympics.
The seminar was organized by the Beijing Development Planning Commission and the Beijing Science and Technology Commission and sponsored by the Beijing International Investment Promotion Council (through BFISC delegates).

- Report on Energy for the Tenth Five Year Plan by the State Development Planning Commission

- Presentation by US delegates on the use of natural gas
- Presentation by Japanese delegates on the efficient use of electricity in large cities

- Presentation by US delegates on space heating in large cities
- Presentation by US delegates on industrial boiler efficiency
- Presentations by German delegates of using coal for power generation

The delegates received copies of most presentations and speeches.
