On 15 March 2002 the nationwide Investment Promotion Agency was set up during a meeting followed by a buffet dinner in the Ascott.
The Agency provides a platform for exchanging information and experiences, as well as strenghtening the guidance on and coorodination among the local agencies, as published in China Daily on 16 March 2002. A total of 41 local agencies from 27 municipalities, provinces and autonomous regions participated. The meeting was presided by Ms. Ma Xiuhong, vice minister of MOFTEC. They will create a united force for China to upgrade its investment promotion sector.

The meeting was convened by Mr. Liu Zhiben, director of the China International Investment Promotion Center and Mr. Sun Changtai, Chairman of BIIPC and co-chairman of the meeting.
During the meeting, Mr. G. Van Kerckhove was interviewed by CCTV9 and parts of the interview was aired on two different occasions.

The Beijing International Investment Promotion Council (BIIPC "BEIJING GUOJI TOUZI ZUJINGHUI") is one of the members. China Strategy Limited was the only foreign founding member to attend the founding and voting meeting chaired by vice mayor Zhang Mao on 7 February 2001.
