JIADING INDUSTRIAL ZONE (SHANGHAI)

Jiading Industrial Zone was established in 1992. In September 1994,
with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, it
became a municipal-level industrial zone, which functions to facilitate
the development of Shanghai Pudong. The Zone's planned area covers
24.8 square kilometers and its first phase development 8.4 square
kilometers. |

| The Zone,
which consists of high-tech and modern industries supplemented by
tertiary industries and social well-being undertakings, will be a
high-level industrial park that keeps pace with the world's economic
development. The Zone tops the list of the seven Best Cities for Investment
Environment in Mainland China in 1999 by Taiwan Electrical Machinery
and Electronic Society. |

Jiading
Industrial Zone Administration Committee acts as the administrative
body of Jiading District People's Government. Jiading Industrial Zone
Development Corporation co-runs the office to see to the all-around
planning and implementation, business invitation and community management
in the Zone. The Zone provides packages for different investment projects
(encouraged industry) under US$30 million and investment |
projects (permitted
industry) under US$10 million: "One-Station Examination" service and
"Packaged Services." In addition, there are offices of various functionary
departments of the District employment agencies, banks, legal service
and public security office on the premises to provide supporting services.
Jiading High-tech Park, a state-level high-tech
park in the first phase development, serves as an incubator for turning
technology into productive forces. It is an ideal place for returned
overseas students, institutions of higher learning, research institutes
and independent entrepreneurs to develop high-tech
industries and trade. |
