Though a Belgian restaurant it attracts all nationalities who seem to be familiar with good Belgian food since ages. Morel's secret? Simple. Renaat Morel himself with his dynamic and outgoing wife Susan. Renaat has become a celebrity in Beijing, everybody seems to know him. Articles about his place are all over the Chinese press.

What attracts and keeps his customers coming back is the food, the beer, the cozy atmosphere. Yes, in Beijing you find the real stoverij met frieten (Belgian beef stew), DE mossels (mussels), the perfect steak and the unbeatable Belgian beers such as Duvel, Hoegaarden, Kwak, Chimay, Orval, Maredsous ... and a shot of Filliers Jenever.
Indeed, Morel's is the favorite meeting point in Beijing of faithful clientele of expats, locals and even Chinese officials. As far as I know, no visiting Belgian official has dared to skip the place during his visit to Beijing.
Now, when it is getting really late and you can't find either Renaat nor Gilbert, try...

THE HIDDEN TREE
