Financial Risk Management Consultancy, Beijing, China; 1996-Present.

Independent risk management and credit training consultant. Work with client management to develop and improve institutional risk management systems, to design and conduct credit analysis and risk management training programs. Training program impart essential knowledge and lending skills in accounting, financial statement and cash flow analysis, business and industry risk analysis, financing needs assessment, risk rating, credit limit establishment, loan structuring, and legal documentation. Further coursework covers topics such as capital markets, project finance, discounted cash flow analysis, VAR, and risk adjusted return.

  • Managed newly-formed, six-person team developing corporate finance business with state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and joint ventures. Trained staff in credit and banking principals.
  • New team obtained $16 million in approvals for loans to coal, telecommunication and petroleum corporations.

  • Wrote proposal for a two-year, $2.2 million African Development Bank environmental policy project to train staff in assessment and problem mitigation techniques and write Bank environmental operations manuals.

  • Managed three-person team maintaining half the $500 million New York municipal credit portfolio.

  • Structured credit facilities for power and resource recovery projects and to support the issue of municipal bonds.
  • Financial Advisor to largest U.S. electric distribution cooperative for a $50 million commercial paper issue.
  • Performed complete transaction process: identified prospects and initiated client contacts, analyzed economic and credit factors, wrote credit applications, obtained senior executive approvals for over $1.8 billion in credit commitments, wrote proposals, prepared and delivered presentations and negotiated terms and legal documentation with government and corporate officials. Originated and closed $500 million in new business.
  • General Securities Representative, National Association of Securities Dealers; Series 7 and Series 63 qualified.

  • Managed $400 million Eurodollar funding program and coordinated product specialists delivering services to New York branches of Japanese banks and government agencies.
